{"id":12,"date":"2012-05-24T18:31:26","date_gmt":"2012-05-24T18:31:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thecine-files.com\/?page_id=12"},"modified":"2013-09-15T18:03:36","modified_gmt":"2013-09-15T18:03:36","slug":"submissions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/issue3.thecine-files.com\/?page_id=12","title":{"rendered":"Submissions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong><i>The Cine-Files<\/i> is now accepting submissions for Issue 6 (Spring 2014), a themed issue on film performance.<em>\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Submission Deadline:\u00a0 February 1, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We seek submissions (4000-6000 words) that explore the significance of film performance in close readings, historical analyses or theoretical inquiries.<\/p>\n<p>Papers might consider the following questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What critical terminology can help us better analyze film performance?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How do actors\u2019 contributions challenge or complicate definitions of auteurism that identify the director as the chief author of a film?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What can we learn from pioneering works about film performance, and how might we complicate earlier insights about film acting in light of recent developments in the film industry?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What can we learn from analysis of films that feature non-professional actors?\u00a0 How does the non-actor complicate our views of film performance?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How can we apply insights from stardom studies or studies of acting methods to better theorize film performance?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is the relationship between performance and genre? Contributors might contrast the work of the same performer in different genres, for example.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is the relationship between cinephilia (as a mode of writing and way of seeing) and the analysis of film performance?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How have paradigms of performance analysis changed in the era of digital cinema? What recent films offer particularly intriguing case studies for analyzing the actor in digital cinema?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Submission Guidelines<\/b><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The deadline for completed submissions is February 1, 2014.\u00a0 If you would like to submit an abstract (300-500 words) first, to see if we are interested in reading your paper, you may do so by December 1.\u00a0 Articles should be accompanied by a brief email indicating the article title, author\u2019s name, institutional affiliation and contact information.\u00a0 <em>The Cine-Files<\/em> practices double blind review, thus the attached submission (doc, please) must not contain the name of the author or any reference to the author.\u00a0 Articles should follow <em>Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition<\/em>.\u00a0 Articles should be 4000-6000 words.\u00a0 However, we will consider shorter or longer pieces if they fit the needs of our issue.\u00a0 Please send submission via email (with article attached as doc) to <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"mailto:cinemastudies@scad.edu\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>cinemastudies@scad.edu<\/b><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cine-Files is now accepting submissions for Issue 6 (Spring 2014), a themed issue on film performance.\u00a0 Submission Deadline:\u00a0 February 1, 2014 We seek submissions (4000-6000 words) that explore the significance of film performance in close readings, historical analyses or theoretical inquiries.
